General Finance Information
The Town of Redcliff accepts the following forms of payment:
Online/telephone banking or Electronic Funds Transfer
Drop box (located beside the front door at Town office)
Note: The Town does not accept credit cards and only Cash or Cheques directly at the Aquatic Centre. Also, payments are no longer accepted at the Town office for Medicine Hat utility accounts.
Bylaw 1122/1997 details penalties that apply to any outstanding tax balances. For further details related to tax penalties see our “Key Tax Dates” section below.
Setting up Online/Telephone Banking
The Town of Redcliff understands the convenience of online banking and encourages all of its customers to take advantage of this choice of payment type.
Utility Payments: You will need to verify what account you are paying by using the heading “Redcliff (Town) Utilities”, along with your utility account number which is located on your utility bill. Contact the Finance and Administration Department if you need help in locating your account number.
Tax Payments: You will need to verify the account you are paying by using the heading “Redcliff (Town) Taxes”, along with your roll number which is found on your combined tax and assessment notice. Contact the Finance and Administration Department if you need help locating your roll number.
Accounts Receivable Payments: You will need to verify the account you are paying by using the heading “Redcliff (Town) Redcliff Accounts Receivable”, along with your customer ID number which is located on your invoice. Contact the Finance and Administration Department if you need help locating your customer ID number.
Key Tax Dates
Jan 1 – 7% penalty applied on total outstanding amount
Mar 30 – Arrears list completed
Mid to end May – Tax Rate Bylaw set and combined Assessment and Tax Notices mailed
Last business day in June – Taxes are due in full
Jul 1 – 3% penalty applied to unpaid current levy
Oct 1 – 5% penalty applied to unpaid current levy
There are some charges that may be billed such as permits, landfill charges, or the message board. Invoices are sent monthly. Unpaid invoices will be penalized after 30 days and with collections processes commencing after 60 days on any invoice unpaid.
Local Improvement Taxes
The Town of Redcliff does have a number of local improvement projects that have been carried out in accordance with the Municipal Government Act with taxes levied against affected property owners. These are in addition to standard municipal and education taxes. Like any tax these cannot be appealed once the appropriate bylaws have been passed. The Finance and Administration Department can answer any questions related to Local Improvement Taxes.
Tax Searches and Tax Certificates
Searches can be provided by phone (please call the Tax Clerk). Tax Certificates must be requested by fax, mail, or email. The cost for a Tax Certificate is governed by bylaw.

To inform the Town of a change of address you may either contact the Town office or fill out a form and drop it off or send it by mail.
